Bima ya Wafanyikazi provides a comprehensive package that combines inpatient, outpatient, maternity, dental, optical, and last expense benefits. It is an optional rider under existing medical schemes or can be taken as a standalone group product for registered domestic worker associations. The cover is renewable annually.
Waiting Periods.
One-month waiting period for all illnesses and natural death.
No waiting period for accidental cases (conditions, surgeries, death).
10-month waiting period for maternity, surgery, and chronic/pre-existing conditions.
Exclusions.
Family Planning, Infertility, Aphrodisiacs, Hormonal replacement therapy unless purchased. Treatment by other than medical practitioners: Chiropractors, Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Homeopathy.
Intentional self injury (with the exception of diagnosed mental health conditions), drug use and conditions related to drug use, alcoholism and conditions related to alcohol intoxication.
Optical and Hearing: Hearing aids, contact lenses.
Dental: Braces, polishing, scaling.
Expenses incurred in illegal or criminal act, or as result of active participation in riots, civil unrest and political activities.
Cosmetic surgeries, beauty therapy treatments.
Patented foods, Nutritional supplements, mineral supplements, and Baby foods.
Medications willful non-compliance complications.
Medical expenses recoverable from SHA, WIBA, Employers liability cover or any other National scheme
